Martin’s research on rage, rants makes PBS.org site

The website for the PBS “NewsHour” program has a lengthy article on research into  whether online ranting is good for the soul. The chairperson of UW-Green Bay’s Psychology program, Associate Prof. Ryan Martin of Human Development, is quoted extensively, and his article published in the February 2013 edition of the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking is cited. The emotional relief, his research showed, is only temporary. People experienced a downward shift in mood after reading rants, and after writing rants, they became more angry, not less.
