Prof. Sherman: Social networking played significant role in protests
In an editorial set to appear in Thursday’s edition of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, UW-Green Bay History Prof. Heidi Sherman (Humanistic Studies) talks about the impact of social media on the demonstrations in Egypt. Sherman is quoted as saying, “the demonstrations would not have been as controlled or as nonviolent — and it has been violent, but not to the extent that they could’ve been — without social networking… It (was) absolutely fundamental to explaining why the demonstrations spread so quickly.” Read the entire editorial.
