Congratulations to all involved in first Alumni Reunion Days
Organizers were delighted by the response to UW-Green Bay’s first-ever Alumni Reunion Days held over the weekend on campus. At least 375 individuals registered to attend one or more of the many scheduled events. Kari Moody, director of alumni relations, says she was especially pleased by the number of current and former UW-Green Bay employees who turned out to reminisce and welcome back alumni visitors and their families. The Friday night reception and Saturday brunch were well attended, as was the wine-and-cheese reception in Theatre Hall on Saturday afternoon. With the Big Mouth/Jazz ensembles concert, a full lineup of Phoenix athletics events, Fan Fest at the Kress, a big sale at the Bookstore and more, it was a busy, fun-filled weekend. Also contributing to the festive atmosphere was the annual Family Weekend for parents, siblings and friends of current students — John Landrum of Student Life puts the number of visitors there at nearly 800, with about 150 families. UW-Green Bay Chancellor Tom Harden told the audience at Saturday’s Alumni brunch that he was delighted by the turnout. Kari Moody of University Advancement plans to survey registrants for Alumni Reunion Days via email to solicit their feedback and suggestions for next year. Even before she begins that, however, she was already getting emails congratulating the University on the event, including the following from an alumna who attended with her also-a-grad husband:
“Just a note to express how much we enjoyed this “First Ever” Alumni Reunion Days weekend! What a wonderful idea!!! There was plenty going on for everyone and their families. We loved that there were so many ‘home’ athletic events going on, as we were able to take in a few of these. The music events were great, as well as the art displays. We also enjoyed seeing the old photos and Fourth Estate collections!!! It was fun to take a walk down memory lane with friends from those days. We would have a few suggestions to pass along, but are not sure who to direct those to. All in all we felt this was a FANTASTIC weekend, and we hope this was the first annual of many to come!!!”
