Wind/Symphonic concert tonight features all-American classics, more
Need a little relaxation and musical enjoyment? The UW-Green Bay Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band promise a program spiced by American and European classics tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 19) at 7:30 p.m. at the Weidner Center.
The band opens the show with “Graceful Ghost Rag,” “Shenandoah” and “Chorale and Shaker Dance.” Following intermission, the Wind Ensemble performs Aaron Copland’s stirring “Fanfare for the Common Man” followed by “American Elegy” by Frank Ticheli. The mood shifts with a performance of the Richard Strauss work “Allerseelen (All Souls Day)” featuring faculty soprano Courtney Sherman. The program closes with four movements from Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite in F.” Prof. Kevin Collins directs both groups.
