UW-Green Bay Music will present the next installment in its popular new 360° Thursdays lecture and concert series March 28, welcoming Associate Prof. Adam Gaines for a session on exploring jazz styles. The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. in Fort Howard Hall at UW-Green Bay’s Weidner Center for the Performing Arts. True to the 360° Thursdays format, Gaines will offer a pre-show lecture before entertaining the audience with a jazz concert. He is a member of the UW-Green Bay Faculty Jazz Combo, which will join Gaines during the concert for a number of standards, displaying the myriad ways they can be manipulated and modified to fit a plethora of jazz tastes and styles. Says Gaines, “A jazz musician can go around the world and sit down to play a standard with a musician he or she just met and make an instant connection through a well-worn and familiar melody.” For more, see the news release.
