Reminder on winter storm policies
As of this writing, heavy snowfall and significant winds remain in the forecast for Tuesday (Dec. 9). For various reasons, the University cancels classes rarely, and almost never “closes campus” entirely, so it’s best to assume business as usual unless directed otherwise. As is standard practice, UW-Green Bay administrators will consult early with campus grounds and public safety crews and check with city bus service. Any cancellation announcement, if warranted, would most likely be made prior to 7 a.m. via community and campus TV, radio, web and email outlets. (As always, the judgment about whether or not to come to campus rests with the individual.) For a refresher on the Winter Storm Policy, http://www.uwgb.edu/provost/policies/storm.asp
Academic units and/or auxiliary operations that have significant public events, special workshops, concerts and the like — activities which have the potential for community walk-up attendance, and for which personal email or phone numbers for most participants/registrants aren’t available— are asked to consult first with campus leadership. The goal is to coordinate any and all weather-related media announcements at the outset, and to avoid a potentially confusing roll call of cancelled/not cancelled/cancelled/not cancelled listings.
