Reminder: new format for Faculty Development Conference
Don’t forget to sign up for the 16th Annual Faculty Development Conference to be held Jan. 20 in the University. The Faculty Development Conference will be a half day with the addition of a second conference opportunity in the afternoon, “High Impact Practices.” Participants may come for the entire day or just the morning or afternoon.
The theme for the Faculty Development conference is The Balancing Act: Dedicated Teaching, Productive Scholarship and Active Service. Keynote speaker Kerry Ann Rockquemore, Ph.D., executive director of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity, will be presenting a 2 ½ hour interactive morning workshop called, “Every Semester Needs a Plan: How to Create a Strategic Plan for Your Research and Writing & the Secret to Actually Doing It!” The afternoon conference will spotlight practices such as first-year seminars, learning communities and service-learning, demonstrably enhance student engagement, learning, and persistence.
