Congratulations to Dietetics on re-accreditation
Shelly Gabel, UW-Green Bay’s dietetic internship coordinator, shares word that UW-Green Bay has been granted accreditation, with glowing comments, from reviewers with the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education.
CADE voted recently to continue full accreditation of UW-Green Bay’s two dietetic programs: the post-baccalaureate Dietetic Internship (DI), and the undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), e.g. the Nutritional Science emphasis of Human Biology. The decision was based on a peer review of the self-study reports addressing the 2008 Accreditation Standards and a campus site visit last spring that involved extensive meetings with faculty, administrators, current and former students and interns, and preceptors. The site visitors commended UW-Green Bay for scoring well in all areas.
At the time of the review, the Didactic Program in Dietetics was directed by Karen Lacey; since her retirement in May the program is directed by Sara Schmitz, MS, RD. The internship program, under the directorship of Shelly Gabel, MS, RD, CD, is a non-degree dietetic internship enrolling 12 full-time interns annually, and is known for its emphasis on professional leadership. Both programs will be required to submit an interim report in five years, and the next complete self-study report and site visit for continued accreditation will be in 2021.
