Suggested items for ‘care package’ donations

The Vets 4 Vets student club will be collecting items again to send along as care packages for troops. They will be collecting them through Friday, Dec. 4. UW-Green Bay has 12 students who have been called up and are serving overseas. The collection point for these items will be the financial aid office in Student Services. Among their recommended items for donations:

• AT&T international calling cards (typically No. 1 on the list)
• snacks — sunflower seeds, shelled peanuts, gum, hard candy, soup, small canned fruit, trail mix granola bars, beef jerky, meat (spam), instant coffee, flavored coffees/tea, energy bars
• magazines
• board games
• DVD/CDs
• books
• games and puzzles
• pocket calendars
• headlamps (flashlights w/head harness)
• floor bug traps
• cards/letters
• writing paper, pens
• toiletries — toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, soap, shower gel, shaving gel, shampoo, conditioner, floss, baby wipes, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, chapstick, laundry detergent, foot power and spray, disposable razors (both men and women)
• powdered drinks

Contraband not allowed in Iraq: personal firearms, alcoholic beverages, drug or drug paraphernalia, prescription drugs without valid prescription, pornography
