PEA prof Wheat will talk environmental law at Friday’s NAS seminar
The next lecture in the Natural and Applied Sciences Seminar Series is this Friday (Oct. 25). The topic is “It’s Not Easy Being Green: Challenges Faced by Litigants in Environmental Cases at the Court of Appeals.” The presenter is Elizabeth Wheat, a UW-Green Bay assistant professor of Public and Environmental Affairs and the school’s student pre-law coordinator. Wheat will discuss her research on judicial politics, especially as it relates to litigation brought under the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and Resource Conservation Recovery Act. It builds on previous analysis suggesting that “repeat” litigants such as the federal government or large corporations very often prevail over “one-shot” litigants such as individuals or small businesses. Wheat’s talk takes place at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Environmental Sciences Room 301. It will be preceded by a half-hour social in ES 317.
