Library databases have a new look

This fall the staff of the Cofrin Library has inaugurated a new, cleaner and easier-to-use design for the Databases by Subject and Databases A-Z pages. Some of the highlights:

•  peer-reviewed flag, full-text indicators, and abstracts appear in the brief results
•  more intuitive method for selecting subjects and databases
•  more databases can be searched simultaneously
•  creates simple, stable URLs  (You want to link to a subject category in Xerxes? Just cut and past the URL into your web page. Done.)
•  includes a spell checker
•  easy to save or email records

You’ll also see that on each Databases by Subject page, there is an instant message box present. This will allow you to ask questions of reference staff if you run into difficulty with your search. Generally the IM account will be monitored 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Says public services librarian Renee Ettinger, “We hope you find that this new product helps make your research easier! Please contact our reference staff at refdesk@uwgb.edu if you have questions.”
