Advocacy group to host ‘Clean Lakes and Green Jobs’ forum
The environmental activist group The Sierra Club has selected the University Union’s Phoenix Room C as the site for an event 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 3. The free forum, “Clean Lakes and Green Jobs: The promise of new federal funding for Great Lakes Restoration,” will include presentations by public officials on how federal funding from the anticipated 2010 federal budget and stimulus funds will be allocated for environmental projects in the region. The UW Sea Grant Institute, New North, and Clean Wisconsin are on board as “co-sponsors.” The event is free, but RSVPs are requested by Aug. 1; click here.
