Winner ran 48 miles on Arboretum trail… in one day
The Green Bay Running Club held its third annual Ultra Marathon on the trails of the UW-Green Bay Cofrin Memorial Arboretum last Saturday. More than 60 runners repeated the approximately 4.4-mile loop along the gravel and chipped paths as many times as they could over a set time period, either six or eight hours. Congratulations to Luann Wickeham of the Bursar’s Office, who completed 31 miles. Jo Lepley, wife of faculty member Bill Lepley, also did 31 miles. First-place finishers in the eight-hour division were repeat champion David Sanchez (48.6 miles) and Elizabeth Hermans (39.6), and in the six-hour division, Rebecca Franks (36.2 miles) and Mark Garrigan (35.2). Ann Scholl of the Running Club sends her thanks to UW-Green Bay and all the volunteers who assisted, especially Mike Kline, Kelly Franz, and the Shorewood Golf and Public Safety staff members who chipped in.
