Spoehr to replace Rivett as softball coach

Beth Spoehr has been appointed the fifth head coach in UW-Green Bay softball history, taking over for Jean Rivett, who retired after leading the team to its second Horizon League Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. “We are thrilled that Beth will be taking over the reins of our softball program,” Phoenix AD Mary Ellen Gillespie said. “Coming off a Horizon League championship season, we had a very competitive process with a great deal of interest in our program.” A former standout at Appleton East High School, Spoehr went on to pitch collegiately at the University of Maine and earn all-conference academic honors. She completed her degree in kinesiology and physical and health education, and served as a Black Bears assistant. Read more.
