McBride joins UW-Green Bay as media relations/video coordinator
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has appointed former Green Bay Press-Gazette journalist Kelly McBride as its new coordinator of media relations and video/audio news. She assumed her duties in late May.
McBride served as opinion page editor for the Press-Gazette and was previously the newspaper’s education reporter. Her experience spans traditional print journalism to multimedia with web-only reporting, social media, blogs, photography and video.At UW-Green Bay, McBride joins the Office of Marketing and University Communication. The office facilitates outside media coverage of the University and generates content for the institution’s web pages, news sites, alumni magazine, newsletters, subscriber feeds and recruitment and outreach efforts.
A native of Minnesota who grew up in the Twin Cities area, McBride is a 2004 summa cum laude graduate of UW-Eau Claire with a double major in journalism and political science. She was awarded her university’s prestigious Ann Devroy Fellowship, which carries with it an editorial internship with the Washington Post.
Following graduation, she spent a year on the staff of the Stevens Point Journal before relocating to Green Bay to join the Press-Gazette in 2005. She was appointed opinion page editor last May.
McBride takes over for Robert Hornacek, who left the University this spring to return to television news with WLUK TV-11 of Green Bay.
