Artists invited to design new bike racks

A bike rack can simultaneously be utilitarian and artistic. And to prove that, the Park in the Art Selection Committee of Olde Main Street, Inc. is looking for design proposals for bicycle racks that could accommodate two to six bicycles. (Get it? Park in the Art.) Commission fees will be awarded to chosen artists ranging from $600 to $1,000, depending on the rack size. The fee will cover costs of design, fabrication, labor, artist’s fees and materials. Three locations will be featured – Streu’s Pharmacy Bay Natural at 635 Main St, The Attic Books & Coffee, at 730 Bodart St., and The ARTgarage at 1400 Main St. Applications are due June 11 and can be downloaded.
