Spring semester success in Social Work: International collaboration with University of Gothenburg in Sweden

The Social Work Professional Programs and the College of Health, Education & Social Welfare (CHESW) proudly hosted guests from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden’s Social Work Department to explore international student and faculty exchanges between UW-Green Bay and the University of Gothenburg’s International Master’s in Social Work and Human Rights. This effort builds upon the recent sabbatical research of Associate Prof. Doreen Higgins (Social Work) who spent several months at the University of Gothenburg in 2018.

Helena Johansson, Deputy Head of Social Work, Lena Andersson, International Coordinator and Social Work faculty member, who visited UW-Green Bay from February 23-March 2, 2019, joined several enthusiastic UW-Green Bay campus and community members in a Welcome Reception and Dinner hosted by the Provost’s office in the 1965 Room, located in UW-Green Bay’s University Union. While in Green Bay, Johansson and Andersson also met with UW-Green Bay administrators, numerous faculty and staff campus wide, local Swedish guests and a host of community providers to explore UW-Green Bay and the broader community. Plans are underway in the Social Work Professional Program in conjunction with the University of Gothenburg, CHESW, the Provost’s Office and the Office of International Education to fully develop the collaboration over the next academic year. Check out the photos.
