Volcanic ash from Iceland cancels UW-Green Bay lecture
The lecture “Supermax, Controlling Risk Through Solitary Confinement” scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has been cancelled. Guest speaker Sharon Shalev, an author and corrections researcher with the Mannheim Centre for Criminology at the London School of Economics, is unable to travel to Green Bay. Her flight from London today (Monday) has been cancelled because of the persistent volcanic ash cloud over Europe. In a note to her UW-Green Bay hosts, Shalev said she hopes to reschedule her Historical Perspectives Lecture Series engagement for fall… “I was much looking forward to meeting you all and to the event itself (and I had prepared a cracking talk — if I do say so myself!).”
