Optimism abounds! Phoenix Optimists off to strong start with Monday meetings

Here’s an opportunity for “optimistic” faculty and staff to become charter members of the newest Phoenix Optimist Club right here on campus. (Plus, join before May 1 and your first-year membership is FREE!) The student-run organization — with Jeanne Stangel, associate athletic director, serving as the staff liaison — invites faculty and staff to become members, as well. “We are encouraging a broad-based, diverse membership, so students, faculty and staff can work together on service projects that benefit area youth groups right here in our community,” Stangel says. “We are off to a strong start; the group officially organized in March with 25 charter members, and now, we are already 37 members strong.” To learn more about the Phoenix Optimists, feel free to attend a weekly meeting any Monday at 5 p.m. at the Kress Events Center in the Special Events Room, or contact Stangel for more information, stangelj@uwgb.edu, or 465-2053.
