UW-Madison alumni open April 12 talk on Russia to the community
The UW-Madison Alumni Club of Brown County sponsors periodic free events for alumni and friends. For their next event, they’re extending an invitation to the broader community and especially UW-Green Bay history faculty and students.
Prof. Ted Gerber is UW-Madison’s director of the Center for Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia. He’ll address the topic “Looking West, Looking East, Looking Back: Russian Youth on Their Country’s Government, History, and Place in the World.” Based on focus group interviews and three large-sample opinion surveys, Gerber argues that we should be concerned about their outlook on some key questions, including their views about their current leaders, Stalin and the Soviet legacy, and the United States.
The event, on Monday, April 12, at the Brown County Central Library, from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m., is free but registration is requested; go to the chapter’s website.
