Highlighting the on-campus meeting of the regional chapter of the social workers association was presentation of the Distinguished Social Worker of the Year Award to Allison Draheim of the Green Bay school district. She was recognized for her work with the growing problem of homelessness among K-12 students and their families and the attendant disruption of schooling for hundreds of young people. Also honored was state Sen. Dave Hansen, recipient of the chapter’s Distinguished Public Service Award. A 1971 UW-Green Bay grad, Hansen was honored for his “long-standing history of support of human service programs and social justice issues,” and for being a key ally of NASW-Wisconsin in achieving the chapter’s legislative priorities.
