Campus Life piloting new leadership program for first-year students

Campus Life is piloting a new spring program for first-year students who are ready to get involved but just haven’t made the move yet. The Emerging Leadership Experience will help students to develop confidence, to hone in on their interests and skills, and to find doors into the many campus experiences available to them. About 20 first-year students will be selected to travel to Sturgeon Bay for a day at the Team Leadership Center, where they will experience a challenge (ropes) course. The rest of the weekend will be spent at the Sand Bay Lodge with a full-time staff facilitator, as well as two upper-division student facilitators. The dates are Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1. You can nominate first-year students for this program by sending their names to osl@uwgb.edu.

Nominations are due Feb. 6
The Emerging Leadership Experience isn’t looking for students who have already figured out how to get involved. They’re looking for those students who have potential but need a little boost. When Student Life receives the names of nominees, they will send them a brief on-line application form. The application deadline is noon Friday, February 6. Space is limited. The program is free. Selected participants will pay a $20 deposit, refundable when they complete the program. Questions? Contact the Office of Student Life at 465-2720 or osl@uwgb.edu.
