Phoenix women beat Illinois-Chicago to open conference play

The Phoenix women earned an impressive win in their Horizon League opener Wednesday (Jan. 8), besting Illinois-Chicago 66-50 in front of 1,600-plus fans at the Kress Events Center. The win marks the team’s 20th straight victory in conference openers, a perfect run since joining the Horizon League in 1994 (11 of those victories have taken place under head coach Kevin Borseth).
