UW-Green Bay choir concert features works by Brahms, Schubert
GREEN BAY — The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Concert Choir and Phoenix Chorale, conducted by Prof. Randall Meder, and the UW-Green Bay Chamber Singers, conducted by Prof. Robert Glaubitz, will host a spring concert at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 28 at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.
Meder is director of choral activities at UW-Green Bay. Glaubitz teaches voice classes and directs music for the UW-Green Bay theatre productions.
The Concert Choir will feature pieces by Franz Schubert, Waldemar Åhlén, Thomas Morley, John Dowland, C. V. Stanford and others. Selections, among others, include Schubert’s “Der Tanz,” and Åhlén’s “Sommarpsalm.”
The UW-Green Bay Chamber Singers have a four-song set including “Laudate nomen Domini,” by Christopher Tye; “The eyes of all wait upon Thee,” by Jean Berger; “I am a poor wayfaring stranger,” arranged by Tom Scott; and “Bonse aba,” arranged by Andrew Fischer.
The Chorale will feature “6 Leider und Romanzen, Opus 93a” (6 Songs and Romances), published in 1884 by composer Johannes Brahms. Chorale members will also sing Hans Leo Hassler’s “Dixit Maria,” and other works.
Advanced tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Tickets at the door are $7 and $5, respectively.
