UW-Green Bay students earn Addy Award honors
Four UW-Green Bay design arts students took home Student Addy Awards earlier this week. The Northeast Wisconsin Fox River Ad Club made the presentations at its annual gala, held this year at Lambeau Field’s Legend’s Ballroom. Honorees were:
• Ryan Stewart: Silver Student Addy, for his design of a 2012 Ford Mustang brochure, created in the Graphic Design Studio III course in the fall 2011 semester;
• Josh Braun: Silver Student Addy, for his advertising campaign design of a Converse shoe campaign, designed for the same course;
• Sarah Schrader: Silver Student Addy for her advertising campaign design of a Barcelona Shoe magazine campaign, for the same course;
• Destiny Thao: Silver Student Addy for her personal identity design for Destiny Studios, completed as part of the Graphic Design Studio II course in fall 2011.
Posing for a photo with their awards are this year’s recipients Schrader, Braun, Stewart and at far right, Thao. The fifth student in the photo, second from right, is Danielle Nonhof. She received a free student Ad Club membership for her third place poster design last spring in the club’s Student Portfolio Review competition. There’s a slideshow/announcement online. While it mistakenly attribute’s Braun’s Converse design to Stewart, it does offer a look at the students’ work, at http://vimeo.com/37740355
It was also a big night for the students’ instructor Toni Damkoehler. Damkoehler was recognized in the Elements of Advertising Illustration category for her illustration of the promotional poster for UW-Green Bay Theatre’s spring 2011 production of “12 Angry Jurors.” For that story, click here.
