Union a launch pad for campus-based careers
It must be the strong Student Life and University Union offerings. UW-Green Bay alumni — most of whom worked jobs and internships here during their own college days and went on to achieve graduate degrees — are filling key student-services slots here and nationwide.
A sampling:
Kelly (Loasching) Kramp ’00 (left, photo above) communication processes and political science, is a graphic designer who now works as the manager of programs, promotions and marketing for UW-Green Bay’s University Union.
Poppy Grant ’74 (center, photo above) nutritional sciences, is the building service manager for the University Union at UW-Green Bay. She oversees custodial staff and building managers and assists with all operational aspects of the University Union, safety and security. She is also the key administrator and consultant for the new scheduling software for the campus. She has served the University in varying capacities from the time she was a UW-Green Bay student.
Rick Warpinski ’91 (right, photo above) business and psychology, has worked in the University Union for 15-plus years and is now its director as well as director of Shorewood Golf Course. He says he’s a strong believer in student life, student activities, health and wellness, and student employment. “Getting and staying involved enhances college academics by providing practical experiences in a safe and educational training environment.”
Sara Ann Kleinhans Suwalski ’99 human development, works as the leadership development program manager in Reeve Memorial Union at UW- Oshkosh. She graduated with a master’s degree in college student personnel from Western Illinois and worked at Xavier University and UW-Green Bay before taking on her current role. She is highly involved with the Association of College Unions International as program presenter, recognition coordinator, and staff member of the annual conference.
Carey O’ Kelley ’01 communication and the arts, is a student development specialist for the Student Activities and University Center operations department at the University of Texas at Tyler. She earned a master’s degree in college student development and administration from UW-La Crosse.
Shannon Chronister ’03 communication processes, coordinates volunteer/service programs and some aspects of student employment in the Office of Student Involvement and Employment at UW-Stevens Point. She earned a master’s degree in educational leadership at Central Connecticut State University and has worked at Rockford College and UW-Marathon in student activities.
Andy Williams ’04 history and humanistic studies, is the program services manager and advisor of Centertainment Production at UW-Stevens Point. He supervises the student technician staff and advises the programming board. He earned his master’s of arts in higher education administration in May 2006 from the University of Akron.
Dana Hartzheim ’05 communication processes, is working at the University of Illinois. She earned a master’s degree in college student personnel from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
