Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band concert
The Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band present their first concert of the 2009-2010 season at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 21) at the Weidner Center. Along with the environmentally inspired “Gaian Visions” (which ties in with the Campus Common Theme of “Realizing our Sustainable Future”) highlights include the Gustav Holst masterpiece “First Suite in E flat,” Johan de Meij’s picturesque and leitmotif-infused “Aquarium,” Jan Van der Roost’s “Suite Provencale” based on French Folk tunes, and an arrangement of “Just a Closer Walk” inspired by New Orleans “second line” funeral processions.
