Phoenix women fall in title game to Wright State
The Green Bay women’s basketball team held a 10-point lead early in the second half, but an 11-0 run by Wright State gave the visitors a lead they would not relinquish as they took home the Horizon League Tournament title (and the automatic NCAA bid) with an 88-69 win on Sunday afternoon at the Kress Events Center. The Phoenix got double-doubles from freshman Mehryn Kraker (19 points, 12 rebounds) and senior Breannah Ranger (16, 10), but it wasn’t enough to overcome sensational games by Wright State guards Tay’ler Mingo (31 points) and Horizon League Player of the Year Kim Demmings (26).
