In the news: Nesslein on overtime wage expansion
Associate Prof. Tom Nesslein on Wednesday (March 12) provided some context for a Fox 11 News story on a presidential proposal that would expand overtime pay requirements. It’s difficult to know how many people would be affected by the proposed change, and how much of a problem the current structure presents, Nesslein said. “(Employers would) probably try to schedule more carefully so they don’t incur higher overtime costs,” Nesslein, Urban and Regional Studies, told reporter Laura Smith, “and they might try to monitor their workers closely to make sure that they’re working more productively so they don’t have to work overtime.” Full story.
