Campus Cookout an opportunity to honor newest retirees
Soon-to-be-retired administrators David Ward and William Laatsch invited faculty and staff to turn out for the annual Campus Cookout, and they did, in big numbers for the event earlier today (Tuesday) at the Kress Events Center. As always, a highlight was acknowledgement of the year’s retirees. Some were there, some were not, but here’s the master list:
• Mike Barry, director of institutional support, retired in November, 15 years
• Diana Borrero-Lowe, coordinator of American Intercultural Center, retired last fall with eight years of state service
• David Damkoehler, professor of Arts and Visual Design (Art), retired in December, 39 years
• Jean Dickinson, payroll and benefits specialist, Human Resources, retired this spring, 21 years
• Tom Gilmore, custodian, Operations, retired last fall, 10 years
• Leanne Hansen, director of the Cofrin Library, retired earlier this year, 31 years
• Curt Heuer, associate professor of Arts and Visual Design (Art), retiring this summer, 31 years
• Sue Keihn, associate provost and dean of students, retiring this summer, 15 years of state service
• Barbara Maenpaa-Barnum, academic department associate, Natural and Applied Sciences, retired before fall semester, 18 years
• Ganga Nair, professor of Natural and Applied Sciences, retiring this month, 40 years
• Terence O’Grady, professor of Arts and Visual Design (Music), retiring this summer, 33 years
• Pat Przybelski, university services program associate, Office of the Secretary of the Faculty and Academic Staff, retiring in June, 37 years
• Jane Rank, safety and risk manager, Business and Finance, retired in January, 20 years
• Karen Swan, director of Counseling and Health, retiring in June, 23 years
• Steve Swan, assistant chancellor for University Advancement, retired mid-year with 27 years of state service
• Gary Vetter, IS comprehensive services senior, Computing and Information Technology, retired last August, 32 years
• Gary Wardall, senior lecturer, Natural and Applied Sciences, retiring this month, 24 years
• José Zayas, supervisor of Stores/Central Receiving, retired this spring, seven years
