The event allows UW-Green Bay students to learn about Wisconsin accounting companies and acquaints students with the opportunities a career in public accounting offers. In addition, the event introduces accounting professionals to students who can help fill future staffing needs and improves the recruitment relationships that currently exist between UW-Green Bay and Wisconsin businesses.
This year’s event allowed 38 UW-Green Bay students to meet with 27 accountants who work for local and regional businesses. The students were also able to meet with the chief executive officer of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the membership development manager of the WICPA.
Of the attending accountants, nearly 20 were UW-Green Bay alumni.
Jay Kramer, a 1982 UW-Green Bay graduate and partner with the CPA firm Hawkins, Ash, Baptie & Co., presented a short seminar for the students on landing an accounting job in a tough economic environment.
