360° Thursdays returns with guest performance of Czech song cycle
On Sept. 26, UW-Green Bay Music will celebrate the return of its eclectic 360° Thursdays concert events, welcoming guest artists to perform a Czech song cycle at 6:30 p.m. in the Weidner Center’s Fort Howard Hall. As we told you here yesterday, the lecture-concert will serve as the kickoff event for the campus Czech and Slovak festival, which also includes a Friday Cultural Cuisine Luncheon and the weekend’s early rounds of the 12th Czech and Slovak Voice International Music Competition of Montréal. Laurie Lashbrook, soprano, pianist Timothy Cheek and dancers Bohuslava Jelinkova and Timothy J. Cheek (the elder Cheek’s young son) will present “Apple Train,” a cycle of seven Czech songs by Sylvie Borodova, during the Thursday event. The performance is the first of eight 360° Thursdays concerts scheduled for the 2013-14 academic year. As always, it is free, with donations appreciated. Our press release has further details.
