Bob Rupp, Sr., early contributor to campus founding, dies at 89

Log editors learned today of the passing of Bob Rupp, Sr., an early contributor to the founding of UW-Green Bay as a member of its Community Relations Committee. In addition to many activities benefiting the local community, he also served as an adjunct instructor at UW-Green Bay in the area of marketing research. Rupp had a long and successful career with A.C. Nielsen Company, and is the father of Bob Rupp, Jr., who served on UW-Green Bay’s Chancellor’s Council of Trustees/Foundation Board from 2001 to September of 2011. Bob Rupp Sr. was said to have modeled the concept of “servant leadership.” He offered this observation in a 1968 interview: “We’ve got to start with respect for the community we live in. And the community isn’t the 4th bridge; it isn’t the Packers; nor the pedestrian mall, nor the university site.
