Staff Note: Robinson shares story, research at series of conferences
UW-Green Bay American Intercultural adviser Shawn Robinson recently presented at the prestigious American Educational Research Association annual conference, held April 27-May 1 in San Francisco. It was his fifth conference presentation this academic year, focused on his paper “Time is our enemy: What is needed to break down barriers for black males with dyslexia.” It’s a topic that hits close to home with Robinson, who is himself dyslexic and, until the age of 18, was functionally illiterate. Through determination and hard work, Robinson turned things around and now is pursuing his Ph.D. We’ll have more on his inspiring story in the newest issue of Inside 360° magazine, which should start hitting mailboxes early next week.
