Singer/artist Magdalen Hsu-Li visits Tuesday for Asian Pacific month
Magdalen Hsu-Li performs at 7 p.m. next Tuesday (April 21) in the Phoenix Club on the lower level of the University Union. The free show is sponsored by the American Intercultural Center, the Southeast Asian Student Union and the Sexual and Gender Alliance; it’s also an Asian Pacific Heritage Month event. Hsu-Li is widely known as a singer-songwriter, painter, and cultural activist. A New York Times reviewer called her sound “sweet, melodic and real,” and she has been praised for carving out an identity as an artist in an industry where Asian women are not generally thought of as musical powerhouses or innovators.
