Alvin Lau, slam poet artist, visits April 14
Next Tuesday (April 14), at 8 p.m., Phoenix Club, Asian Pacific heritage month continues with a free show by Alvin Lau, a performance poet, working artist, and Chicago native. The son of first-generation Chinese immigrants, he often speaks of the Asian-American experience, with subjects ranging from Tiger Woods, to the importance of retaining native language, to what he sees as the “desexualization” of Asian men in the media. We’ll have more, closer to the event.
