Play review: Theatre’s bobrausch ‘a liberating adventure’

Green Bay Press-Gazette critic Warren Gerds has high praise for UW-Green Bay Theatre’s bobrauschenbergamerica, describing the play — make that “event,” Gerds says — as a “liberating adventure” in his Sunday (Oct. 21) review.

“The production elevates collage visual art to a higher sensual experience,” Gerds notes, describing a disjointed theatrical style that presents the second half of the 20th century as famed artist Robert Rauschenberg might have conceived it. Rauschenberg was known for making collage art from found objects, which are in no short supply in this work from Charles L. Mee. “Playwright (Mee) and the production capture a Rauschenberg intent,” Gerds writes, “ — just let it happen.”

The show continues Wednesday through Saturday (Oct. 24-26) in the Jean Weidner Theatre. Full review.
