Photos: Staff members enjoy wellness fair, ‘Just for the Health of it’
Dozens of UW-Green Bay academic staff members gathered, “Just for the Health of It,” at a Thursday, May 24 event of the same name.
Designed to offer an enjoyable yet informative look at multiple aspects of health and wellness, the Just for the Health of It event featured active breakout sessions — attendees could scale a rock climbing wall or strike a pose with yoga — along with expert nutritional and stress-management advice. Staff members also had the option of taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the Kress Events Center, where the event was held, and participating in a StrengthsQuest talent self-assessment session at day’s end. Nearly a dozen University and local vendors also were on hand.
“Just for the Health of It” featured a “lunch and learn” event, during which attendees enjoyed healthy boxed lunches as A’viands Dietitian Jill Roup spoke on “Mindful Eating in Today’s Crazy World.” Keynote speaker Jack Curtis took the stage after lunch, focusing on stress management through a positive mindset and relaxation techniques. Several staff members won door prizes, ranging from a month of personal training at the Kress to UW-Green Bay Athletics tickets and nine-hole rounds of golf at Shorewood Golf Course.
The Academic Staff Professional Development Programming Committee planned Thursday’s event, in cooperation with the Kress Events Center. Committee members include Chrisanna Colletta, Kim Desotell, Joe Hardenbrook, Lynn Rotter and Kimberly Vlies. More information on the conference is available.
