Faculty note: Lockard has book published
Oxford University Press has published Craig Lockard’s latest book, Southeast Asia in World History, the third book in a new Oxford series on world history for college audiences and the general public. Based on Lockard’s nearly forty years of teaching, studying, and writing about both Southeast Asian and world history, 35 of them at UW-Green Bay, the book surveys the history of Southeast Asia and its peoples from earliest times up to the present, highlighting the region’s role in world history and the longtime connections between Southeast Asians and the wider world. The series editors, Anand Yang of the University of Washington; and Bonnie G. Smith of Rutgers University; describe the book as “compact, elegantly written, and lively, a sweeping history.” Lockard is a member of the Social Change and Development Department and Chair of the History Department.
