Faculty note: Russ
Business Administration Prof. Meir Russ published another short essay recently at “Leonardo,” an online salon managed by the non-profit International Center for Foreign Relations. His topic is this nation’s grim unemployment situation and the fact it is increasingly likely that historically high rates will become the new norm, because of both outsourcing of low-end manufacturing to low-wage countries, and a mismatch between laborforce skills and market needs. Societal friction will only increase, Russ predicts, and U.S. leaders might be wise to look at the Netherlands for a lesson in how to manage the impact. Read the essay.
