Kraft weighs in on ‘extraordinary’ legislative session
In a story that led Fox 11 News at 9 p.m. Monday (June 13), UW-Green Bay’s Michael Kraft talked about the “extraordinary” session of the Legislature set to convene Tuesday (June 14). The designation, Kraft said, means the Legislature intends to move quickly and with a specific focus; this time, on the budgetary measures that have consumed our state in recent months. But would an extraordinary session by any other name be as remarkable? “The only distinction is the governor calls a special session and the legislative leaders call an extraordinary session, but they are essentially the same thing,” explained UWGB political science professor Michael Kraft. “In both cases the purpose is to consider a more limited set of legislative issues.” Read more.
