UW-Green Bay to hold guest brass recital

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay music program will present a guest recital Sunday, April 3, featuring the “Brass Circle Quintet.”

The free recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre inside Theatre Hall, and is open to the public.

The “Brass Circle Quintet” was founded in the Fox Valley in 2005. The quintet includes: Prof. Marty Robinson, UW-Oshkosh, trumpet; Prof. Bruce Atwell, UW-Oshkosh, horn; Prof. Eric High, St. Norbert College, bass trombone; Michael Henckel, trumpet; Andrew Zipperer, tenor trombone and euphonium.

The “Brass Circle Quintet” is the resident brass quintet at First United Methodist Church in Appleton.

The concert will include “Canzon per Sonare No. 2,” a 17th century piece by Giovanni Gabrieli; “Quintet No. 3,” a four-movement piece by Victor Ewald; “Three Pieces” by 19th century composer Ludwig Maurer; “Frost Fire” by American composer Eric Ewanzen; and “Fire Dance” by Emmy Award-winning composer Anthony DiLorenzo.

This is the twenty-seventh concert of the 2010-2011 season.
