Late reminder: Earned Income Tax Credit can benefit some filers

AASCU, a national higher education coalition, is helping push a community service campaign to make sure that students and employees earning under $58,000 a year are aware they can qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit. The nonprofit organization One Economy Corporation has joined with the United Way, National Disability Institute, and the Wal-Mart Foundation to bring free online filing services through MyFreeTaxes.com to taxpayers across the country. MyFreeTaxes.com is free to all eligible taxpayers nationwide—those earning less than $58,000 per year—many of whom may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Many students and others don’t know they are eligible for a refund. Additional information on this service is available at MyFreeTaxes.com.
