Phoenix women climb to No. 17 in AP poll

On the strength of three more impressive wins, the unbeaten University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s basketball team has risen to No. 17 in this week’s (Jan. 11) edition of the Associated Press Top 25.

The Phoenix women are up one spot from last week’s No. 18 position. UW-Green Bay (15-0) is one of only five undefeated teams in the Division I Top 25. The others are No. 1 Connecticut, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 6 Georgia and No. 11 Nebraska. Next up for the Phoenix is a road trip to UW-Milwaukee at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16. UW-Green Bay extended its regular-season unbeaten streak to 33 games over the weekend. The women shrugged off a slow start and put pedal to the metal, dispatching Detroit 71-46, Saturday (Jan. 9) at the Kress Events Center. The Phoenix is now 4-0 in the Horizon League following decisive wins over Wright State and Youngstown State earlier in the week.
