The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay bade farewell to its biggest mid-year class to date Dec. 17, with more than 300 of the University’s 400-plus winter grads taking part in commencement ceremonies at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts. It was a day devoted to memories for the class of 2011, and members enjoyed reflecting back, even as they look forward to what’s next.
An audience of approximately 2,000 was on hand Dec. 17 as a record mid-year class of more than 400 was eligible to receive degrees in ceremonies at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.
Timothy F. Nixon, UW-Green Bay Class of 1987, is ranked as one of America’s top 25 attorneys in the field of financial restructuring and bankruptcy law. In delivering the December 2011 commencement address at his alma mater, he demonstrated a way with words that serves him well both in the courtroom (he has represented clients before the U.S. Supreme Court) and in the classroom (he teaches law and management courses at UW-Green Bay.)
Ed Manydeeds said he remembers visits to the developing UW-Green Bay campus as a boy in the late 1960s. Now, more than 40 years after those first teen-age visits to the Green Bay campus, Manydeeds said he is delighted to see the University’s growth and success, this time as a member of the UW System Board of Regents.
Graduating senior Tonya Filz of Appleton spoke on behalf of her class at UW-Green Bay’s mid-year commencement Dec. 17 at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts. The psychology major was also the recipient of the Outstanding Student Award presented by the UW-Green Bay Alumni Association.
