Pepsi awarded pouring rights contract

Pepsi Cola of Northeast Wisconsin has been awarded the pouring rights contract for the exclusive provision of soft-drink beverages at UW-Green Bay. This includes all manual and vending service outlets throughout campus. Pepsi has installed new vending machines promoting the various brands that Pepsi Cola of Northeast Wisconsin distributes as well as new fountain beverage units in the Marketplace and Garden Café. They have also provided a number of portable refrigeration units for University Dining Services, Shorewood Golf Course, and the Kress Events Center. This is a seven-year contract between Pepsi and UWGB that includes provisions for marketing and advertising rights with the Weidner Center, Shorewood Golf Course, and Green Bay Athletics. Please contact Rick Warpinski, Director – University Union, for all inquiries in regards to this agreement (920 465-2090).

Exclusions — There are two locations on campus where A’viands, our contracted University Dining Services provider, can provide and sell alternative products to the Pepsi beverage offerings. The Corner Store on the second floor of the Union and the Garden Café on the first floor of the library will have limited space for non-Pepsi products.

Farewell, and a thank-you, to Konop — The pouring rights contract with Pepsi means for the first time in 40 plus years the Konop Companies of Green Bay will not be providing service and support to the University community. On behalf of UWGB, Warpinski writes, “Many thanks goes out to the Konop Companies, their staff, and the Konop family for their excellent support of UW-Green Bay and service through their manual, snack, and beverage vending services.”

Semester’s end means charitable donations to local pantries

Dan Jacques from A’viands Food Service shares word that UW-Green Bay made the most out of the dining plan’s bulk sales drive in May. Through the staff assistance of A’viands and the University Union, students and their parents elected to donate $2,762 worth of food that is being made available to the hungry of Brown County. Five different charities — Campus Kitchen, Campus Pantry, Manna for Life, Paul’s Pantry and Freedom House — are benefiting from the year-end food plan contributions. Jacques and Tammy Swanson from A’viands say they “would like to personally thank everyone involved in collection, organizing and next week’s delivery…  This would not have been possible without Sarah Johanski, lead retail supervisor, who handled the ordering, organizing and sorting of all the items collected.”
