Local group joins UW-Green Bay Chorale, Concert Choir for March 12 concert

The UW-Green Bay Chorale and Concert Choir under the direction of Associate Prof. Randall Meder will be joined by special guests, Green Bay Choral Artists, in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at the Weidner Center. The concert will feature selections from a wide variety of composers, including Mozart, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Johannes Brahms and more. Assistant Prof. Courtney Sherman, soprano, will be among the featured soloists.

UW-Green Bay Music to present Chorale, Concert Choir Oct. 21

UW-Green Bay’s Chorale and Concert Choir will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in a concert featuring the UW-Green Bay Vocal Jazz Ensemble as the groups’ special guest.

The concert, which will be held in the Cofrin Family (main) Hall of the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, will feature UW-Green Bay Associate Prof. Randall A. Meder conducting the Chorale and Concert Choir, and UW-Green Bay Associate Prof. John Salerno as director of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

The Concert Choir will perform first, presenting selections that include “Exultate Justi” (Lodovico Viadana), “Sure On This Shining Night” (Samuel Barber) and “Oliver Cromwell” (Benjamin Britten). Just before intermission, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble will take the stage, performing “I’m Gone” (Alison Krauss, arr. John Salerno).

Following a brief intermission, the UW-Green Bay Chorale will perform. The group will start out with “Or sus, serviteurs, du Seigneur” (J.P. Sweelinck) and will continue with pieces including “Madrigal, Op. 35” (Gabriel Fauré) and “Zigeunerlieder, Op. 103” (Johannes Brahms).

Chorale, Concert choir to perform Wednesday at Weidner Center

The UW-Green Bay Chorale and Concert Choir are gearing up for a semester’s end concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 in the Weidner Center’s Cofrin Family Hall. Conducted by Associate Prof. Randall Meder, the groups will first take the stage individually to perform music from a wide variety of composers. The concert will close with the combined choirs performing “Gamelan,” composed by R. Murray Schafer and arranged by UW-Green Bay Prof. Cheryl Grosso. UW-Green Bay Chorale, Concert Choir to perform April 30

The UW-Green Bay Chorale and Concert Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in the Cofrin Family (main) Hall at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

This 32nd event of the 2013-14 season will feature music from a wide variety of composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, James Mulholland, Stephen Chatman, Giuseppe Pitoni and more. Associate Prof. Randall Meder conducts both the Chorale and the Concert Choir.

The UW-Green Bay Concert Choir will take the stage first, performing “Cantate Domino” by Giuseppe Pitoni; “Washington” by William Billings; “Lobet den Herren” by Michael Praetorius; “Highland Mary” by James Mulholland; “Dirait-on” by Morten Lauridsen; and “I’se the B’y,” a Newfoundland folksong.

Following a brief intermission, the Chorale will perform, beginning with Thomas Weelkes’ “Hark, All Ye Lovely Saints” and Claude Le Jeune’s “Un Gentil Amoureux.” The group also will perform “Amor Vittorioso” by Giovanni Gastoldi; “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” by Johann Sebastian Bach; “The Last Words of David” by Randall Thompson; and “Due North” by Stephen Chatman. The concert will conclude with the combined choirs performing “Gamelan,” composed by R. Murray Schafer and arranged by UW-Green Bay Prof. Cheryl Grosso.
