UW-Green Bay Small Business Development Center assists 31 business starts in 2012
The UW-Green Bay Small Business Development Center (SBDC) announced its annual impact report for the past federal fiscal year. During FY 2012, the UW-Green Bay SBDC provided no-cost business counseling to 240 small business owners and entrepreneurs, delivering 523 business counseling sessions. Through this assistance, the SBDC business counselors supported 31 business starts and more than $8 million in capital formation for small businesses in the region. In addition to one-on-one business counseling, the UW-Green Bay SBDC also delivered more than 2,114 hours of training to 183 program attendees.
The SBDC is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the UW-Extension Division of Entrepreneurship and Economic Development. Through long-term business counseling and training programs, the SBDC assists small business owners and entrepreneurs with business planning, access to capital, business expansion projects, product commercialization, market research, and leadership training in Brown, Calumet, Manitowoc, Kewaunee, Door, Oconto, Shawano, Menominee, Marinette, Florence and Forest Counties. Its next Entrepreneurial Training Program will teach lean business startup principles in Door County.
