Chow Chong ’83 (Business Administration) started Kites Over Lake Michigan, because of a personal passion to see a kite festival and he figured it would attract more people to Two Rivers. When he first started, 13 years ago, he asked local businesses to help with funding. A local hotel owner helped him with setting the dates, and they chose Labor Day weekend as hotels were never full during that time of the year. But today they are, as people from all over the nation come celebrate Kites Over Lake Michigan with around 30,000 people flooding into Two Rivers. The 13th annual Kites Over Lake Michigan is from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2 at Neshotah Beach, 500 Zlatnik Drive. The event is free, with concessions available. Call 920-793-9599 for more information. Full story available on The Herald Times Reporter.
