State Supreme Court agrees to hear case of UW Regents, student fee protester

The Wisconsin Supreme Court plans to review a case involving alleged harassment, University of Wisconsin regents, and a former UW-Stevens Point student. The legal case dates back to 2011, when a Dane County judge issued a restraining order barring Jeff Decker from UW property. Decker has attended public meetings of regents and other UW officials on several campuses to protest university policies on distributing student activity fee funds. In January, the 4th District Court of Appeals ruled the judge improperly issued the order and found that Decker, the son of former Senate Majority Leader Russ Decker, D-Schofield, was exercising his right to protest the use of student fees when he disrupted the meetings.
